The National School of the Arts
The National School of the Arts (NSA) is in the business of education and training in the arts and academic arenas and providing access to tertiary education and a wide variety of careers.
The art department is the largest secondary school art department in the country. The school has a dance, drama, music and contemporary music department. The high level of success achieved by the art learners of the NSA over the past 34 years bears witness to the outstanding tuition provided by committed and talented teachers who are specialists in their fields.
The school has an art gallery where learners regularly exhibit their work. Tuition is offered in a wide variety of disciplines including, design, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and jewellery. The use of computers is encouraged in all disciplines. Tuition is also offered in relevant graphics and DTP packages.
The school has produced a number of local and international talents including Oscar winner and Johannebsurg born, Charlize Theron, who broke her foot while training as a ballet dancer at the NSA.
