Boston City Campus was founded in 1991 by Ari Katz, with the intention to better equip UNISA students to succeed in their examinations.

In January, 1997, Boston City Campus opened a new division called Boston Business College and, after opening 11 colleges in Gauteng, started franchising the concept nationwide In January, 2001 Boston City Campus and Boston Business College merged into one educational entity. In February, 2004, from an initial six students in 1991, Boston City Campus and Business College grew to 40 colleges with over 20 000 students in 2004. Since inception, where Boston City Campus was only offering tuition towards UNISA degrees, but since 2005 there are now over 100 different career paths from which the learner can choose.
