2011-09-28 - Rea Vaya has announced that Piotrans, the bus operator contracted to operate the current Rea Vaya bus services, and its drivers reached an agreement which resulted in the commencement of the Rea Vaya Services on Tuesday 27 September after a protracted strike of more than 8 weeks.

Rea Vaya road closures
2011-09-28 - In Parktown, there is one lane open per direction after Jan Smuts and Empire intersection due to the widening of the roads. A Rea Vaya station at Empire Road opposite the BP garage is under construction and therefore drivers should expect delays. Motorists shouldn't be alarmed by the yellow jersey barriers along the road; they are meant to demarcate a walking pavement for pedestrians. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September 2011.

Tough action on billing crisis
2011-09-28 - Tough action is going to be taken against the City of Joburg by the National Consumer Council (NCC) because of its billing chaos. National Consumer Council commissioner Mamodupi Mohlala is set to tackle the council head-on and has vowed to fight to the end to ensure ratepayers are not ripped off by the billing system mess.

Linking Braamfontein to the CBD

Wits 969 kicks off
2011-09-07 - WITS 969 – named for the distance in kilometres between Grahamstown and Johannesburg – is presented by Wits Theatre as part of the 2011 Joburg Arts Alive International Festival. It is renowned for offering theatre fans in Joburg the opportunity to experience the best of the National Arts Festival, right in their hometown.
This year, WITS 969 runs from September 21st to 30th at the Wits Theatre Complex on the Wits East Campus, giving Joburgers a chance to experience three productions that helped turn the 2011 National Arts Festival into such a success.
